New season at MK Theatre set to be a blast!

Date Posted:25/07/2017

New season at MK Theatre2017 has been shaping up nicely at Milton Keynes Theatre; having already played host to some fantastic shows we’re excited for the remaining spectacular season ahead! With sensational musical premieres, delightful dance, and legendary talent gracing the stage, the year looks to be finishing with a bang and we’re looking ahead to the excitement to come!

There’s an array of musicals to tease those theatrical taste buds, so don’t let life be a drag with John Partridge and Adrian Zmed, stepping into stilettos in the show-stopping La Cage Aux Folles. Get whisked along with summer loving as Tom Parker, Danielle Hope and Louisa Lytton take us back to high school for Grease, and we can also look forward to singing sensation Will Young and Louise Redknapp lighting up the Kit Kat Klub in Cabaret. Willkommen!

Classic musical theatre fans will be delighted to see Willy Russell’s legendary Blood Brothers returning to Milton Keynes, and one of the all-time great musicals, Sunset Boulevard, arrives on its UK tour featuring Ria Jones and Danny Mac.

Set to provide a ‘lorra lorra laughs’, the tale of one of Britain’s best-loved entertainers comes alive with the premiere production of Cilla – the Musical, and prepare to clap and cheer and stamp your feet for cheerleader extravaganza Bring It On the Musical. While you’re at it, be sure to click those fingers as everyone’s favourite ghoulish family, The Addams Family, make their UK musical debut starring Samantha Womack and Les Dennis.

Creative Learning’s Stage Experience also returns for its sixth year with a fun-filled production of Bugsy Malone, serving up gangsters, glamour, and custard pies! Things are going to get messy!

But fear not, if musicals aren’t your preference there’s plenty of other entertainment at your disposal, with dance from the English National Ballet and Vincent and Flavia’s Tango Moderno, opera from Glyndebourne, and the National Theatre’s The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time returns, following a sell-out run in 2015.

Plenty of fun is also available for the family with David Walliam’s Awful Auntie having been adapted for the stage, and you’d be mad to miss this year’s pantomime, Cinderella, starring theatre favourite Brian Conley as Buttons, and celebrity fashion guru Gok Wan as the Fairy Gokmother. You shall go to the ball this holiday season!

There’s a host of special one-night events including music from Jackson Live in Concert, The Illegal Eagles, That’ll Be The Day, Midge Ure, The Christians and Altered Images, The Australian Pink Floyd Show, Squeeze, Sensational 60’s, and The Greatest Hits of Motown. Or side-splitting comedy from the likes of Showstopper! The Improvised Musical, Jimmy Carr and Jon Richardson. There’s even a chance to be dazzled by musical theatre royalty with Elaine Paige in concert.

Looking ahead, but booking now and selling fast for 2018, we have acclaimed National Theatre productions of War Horse, and Hedda Gabler. Also on sale is the latest production from the Welsh National Opera, the beloved production of Matthew Bourne’s Cinderella, an enchanting live show based on Raymond Brigg’s The Snowman, the first UK tours of Beautiful – The Carole King Musical, and Matilda The Musical, and, back by popular demand is Shrek the Musical, Hairspray and Jersey Boys.
