MKFM and Destination Milton Keynes strengthen partnership

Date Posted:22/03/2019

MKFMFollowing almost a year of hosting the Destination MK Show on MKFM, the team at DMK are delighted to officially welcome MKFM on board as a member and media partner.

This development comes as MKFM is set to become the city’s only truly local radio station, hosting all if its programmes from local studios and broadcasting exclusively to a local audience.  MKFM says the new relationship with Destination Milton Keynes will help residents, visitors and business owners alike.

Darren Dorrington, MKFM Managing Director said, “We’ve really enjoyed the dimension that Steven has brought to the airwaves with the Destination MK show.  MKFM has a strong listener base inside Milton Keynes as well as a large radio and online reach across nearby counties including Northamptonshire, Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire and Buckinghamshire, so it’s great to talk to people that are visiting MK, or planning a visit, as well as our local listeners.”

Destination Milton Keynes is the city’s official Destination Management Organisation, tasked with managing the visitor economy of the MK. They deal with local, national and international enquiries on a daily basis from members of the public, businesses, councils and organisations that want to come and visit the city and do business.

DMK runs marketing campaigns aimed at promoting the leisure and business sectors across Milton Keynes and also operates the Visitor Information Centre at centre:mk. It also provides marketing and business support to its members ranging from restaurants to leisure attractions through to businesses and now – a radio station. Notably, DMK run the annual #LoveMK day, which takes place in 2019 on Thursday 2 May, and will launch live on the MKFM Breakfast Show.

CEO Steven Gordon-Wilson said “We’re always looking for new ways to engage with the public to promote Milton Keynes and promote what a vibrant, exciting city it is to visit – doing the DMK show every weekend has been a brilliant way to do that…we’re really looking forward to MKFM being full members of DMK which means we’ll be able to work much more closely together and promote this awesome city!”

The Destination MK show is hosted by Steven Gordon-Wilson, and broadcast on MKFM every Saturday and Sunday from 9am. The station broadcasts on 106.3FM in Milton Keynes, on DAB Digital Radio across the region and worldwide online at www.mkfm.com, on mobile and on smart speakers such as Amazon Echo.
